Director of Engineering

Description:

A niche fintech in London is developing a new data transparency and insight platform for the financial industry and they are opening a brand new search for a Director of Engineering to be based near London.

They are targeting a talented and passionate leader to spearhead the expansion of their technical teams following strong demand for their platform. You will coordinate with the Frontend, Backend and Systems/DevOps teams to deliver high-quality solutions for their customers.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide leadership for a 16-strong engineering team across two UK-based locations
• Define goals, monitor time frames and coordinate deliverables with the business.
• Define a future road map
• Coach and mentor the senior team – also helping them to do the same to the more junior staff
• Play a key part in growing the team through recruitment
• Ensure best practice is adhered to across the engineering division.

Requirements:

• Extensive knowledge and proven track record of building/delivering complex projects
• Extensive experience in leading larges teams of technologists
• Can break down intricate problems and respond with a simple and elegant solution
• Strong and in-depth knowledge of the following technologies (this role is largely hands-off): Java 17, Apache Flink, gRPC, GraphQL, ReactJS, Kubernetes, Kafka, PostgreSQL & Puppet.
